Interesting lighting

Interesting lights and lighting can be quite inspiring in the design process. Tea lights for example can casts light and shadow which can be transformed into patterns or lines in designing garments. Also the use of low light or bright light can also have a similar effect in triggering design ideas.

A fresh bunch of flowers

A fresh bunch of flowers is so beautiful to have in your environment. I find having them strangely calming. The whole process of going to the markets, searching out a bunch that will delight the sense and fit with what you are feeling this week is all part of the enjoyment of creating a environment which is conducive to designing. I'm not sure why I find the presence of small things such as a bunch of flowers so important, but it just is!

A clear space to work

A clean area is an essential to start with for me because I can see what I need to do and what I have in front of me to use to create designs. A clear table is probably the best place to start because usually with in a few hours finding the bottom of it can be a task in itself.

The Beginning

In starting this blog I hope to uncover my design process as well as document what it is. If you asked me what is my design process I'm not quite sure that I would be able to tell you. However one thing I do know is that before I am able to start any sort of design work I need a space that I am able to work, which will also in small ways help to generate ideas. With this in mind I will divulge what I need in my design space in the posts to come.....
